OTR needs your quick vote in “This Place Matters” Competition

The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 2011 “This Place Matters” Community Challenge is underway!

The Over-the-Rhine Foundation is one of only 100 local preservation organization in the competition. Anyone with an email may vote and the top three organizations will win $25,000, $10,000 and $5,000, respectively.

If you’re on facebook, you can attend, share and invite your friends to the event which has all the details or if you’re on twitter, you may join the virtual tweetup to #voteOTR.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Enter your information here
  2. Select OTR from this list or go directly to this link and click VOTE
  3. Spread the word by “liking” that page or emailing your friends or sharing it with people in the media
OTR was in 84th place on June 9. Right now it is in 18th place due to the outpouring of support.
This is a big deal for several reasons. Of course, the money is an incentive, but beyond that is the idea that OTR is a place that matters. The competition is about Cincinnati fully recognizing the worth of OTR and proclaiming it on the national level.

Only 100 places in the country are chosen to compete and this year is OTR’s chance to make a statement. So please, share this with your friends and vote with every email you can create. Spread the word and hopefully our local media will pick up the story and push OTR to the top where it belongs!
