Moerlein Lager House Grand Opening
Today marks a milestone in Cincinnati’s history: the opening of the Moerlein Lager House! Situated between Great American Ballpark and Paul Brown Stadium, downtown and the mighty Ohio, The Banks and Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House is positioned to become the newest jewel in the Queen City’s crown. The story makes it shine even brighter for this is not only a lager house – it’s a symbol of Cincinnati’s progress.
Christian Moerlein Brewing Co.‘s roots in Cincinnati reach back to 1853 when Christian Moerlein himself brewed his first barrel of beer in Over-the-Rhine. After its death by Prohibition in 1920, the brewery was dormant until 1981 when it was reintroduced. In 2004 Greg Hardman, Christian Moerlein Brewing Co.’s president and CEO, purchased the brand. Over the next six years, he acquired all the best known Cincinati beer brands and moved Christian Moerlein back to Over-the-Rhine. If anyone deserves the key to the Queen City, it is Hardman – Cincinnati’s leading beer baron.
